Cameron Fearon lived a life of strength, love, and brotherhood.  A fighter at heart, Cameron  passed away  on August 17, 2018, after a  long battle with metastatic melanoma; A form of skin cancer that had spread throughout his body. Sigma Nu at The University of Georgia, along with the help from other greek organizations, friends, and family, has decided to start a campaign to raise money in honor of his life. On November 9th, we will be hosting an event titled, "JAM FOR CAM", that will celebrate his life and legacy. We will be fundraising money for Camp Carolina, a youth summer camp that had an immense impact on the person and character of Cameron, as well as The American Cancer Society. For more information on the event or fundraising feel free to contact Colin Beecham at c.beecham19@gmail.com or anyone that is a Sigma Nu at the University of Georgia.  We are also accepting donations outside of GoFundMe. We thank you for your participation and  encourage that everyone shares this campaign in attempt to raise $20,000.

The success of Jam For Cam does not stem from our fraternity or any single persons efforts, rather a testament to the true person Cameron was. However, we are not finished yet! We hope to hit our $20,000 goal on GoFundMe within the next week so and we ask that you continue to share this link with everyone you know.

I want to explain how we will donate the funds and how they will be handled once we eject them from gofundme. We have setup a non-profit organization as well as a bank account under the name "Jam For Cam". We will link the gofundme to this bank account and that is where the funds will be placed. We plan on donating $2,000 to Camp Carolina, $2,000 to American cancer society, and the remainder of the funds to Melanoma Research Foundation. The donating will take place after the event (on November 9th) and will be sent to their respective organizations. We will also be holding on to $1000 in the Jam For Cam bank account so that when we do the event again next year we will be able to have money to help kick start our campaign.

Again, we would like to thank everyone for their efforts and all of the love and support we have received.

As many of you know, ‘Jam For Cam’ fundraising is well underway. In just 5 days the GoFundMe link was shared over 800 times on Facebook giving us a total of over 14,000 dollars from over 180 generous donors! On behalf of Sigma Nu and the team outside of the fraternity, I want to thank everyone that has contributed to this event.

****After hearing from the Fearon family, we have decided to redirect our efforts to more align with the interests of his parents. There are still plans to donate funds to American Cancer Society, as well as Camp Carolina, however; We have decided to switch our focus to Melanoma Research Foundation. MRF is the largest independent organization dedicated to melanoma research. Their mission stands for research, education, and advocation among patients, physicians and all who are affected. We believe fighting for prevention and education is our main goal as a fundraiser. For more information regarding Melanoma Research Foundation please visit their website, www.melanoma.org.

Even though we have made massive strides in the past several days, we are only getting started. I am sure that by the date of the event (November 9th) we are going to exceed our initial goal of $30,000. We are counting on all the help we can get from parents, friends and peers to make sure ‘Jam For Cam’ has a lasting impact on Melanoma research.

Currently we are searching for donation help from businesses and companies that believe they could be helpful to this event. This includes t-shirts, wristbands, signs, or any other promotional items that could be useful.

Again, I cannot thank each of you enough for the love and support for this event. Thank you all for believing in our goal and I ask that you continue to share Cameron’s story as we continue his legacy.
Keep Jammin’
