Jake was involved in a terrible accident at work leaving him burned pretty badly. His family will be by his side the whole time and he will need care for months if not years to come to help recover from this. If you know Jake, you know that he would do anything for anyone, he is also an active member of the community and has helped countless people through Lewes Fire Company. Please donate to help offset his and his family's upcoming expenses.

3/31/17: I just spoke with Jake's Mom and he is going back in for surgery on his chest this morning. The doctors are unsure whether it will take a couple of hours or all day to complete.

Please keep Jake and his family in your prayers during this trying time.

3/29/17: Hi Everyone. I am speaking for the Slater family when I say that your love, support, prayers and donations have been such a blessing at this time.

Jake is still in serious condition and the doctors are keeping him sedated for the day until he can be fully evaluated. They've said that his stay at Johns Hopkins will be at the very least 30 days and once he gets home he will need months of rehab.

Thank you again for your continued support, I will keep the updates coming as I receive them.

3/30/17: Hi All, I wanted to continue to give updates, although not much has changed. Jake is still in intensive care at the burn unit at Johns Hopkins where his length of stay has been updated to about 5 months. Doctors now are keeping him sedated due to the 2nd and 3rd degree burns from his neck to his lower extremities. His Mom told me yesterday that he gave her a slight head nod and it was a huge relief. He will need grafting surgeries in the future and then a long road of healing and rehab.

The love and support of everyone here means the world to Jake and his family, they are so thankful for all of you. More updates to come.
