Hello there! My name is Jake Nordstrom. I am 17 years old and was raised in Marin County, California. It has been my goal to be an Eagle Scout since I joined scouting in grade school. I realized as I got older, this is a great avenue to get to know my community and to develop skills in leadership so that one day I can truly make a difference in this world.

I am currently a senior in high school, strive to get exemplary scores in all my classes, lead my high school baseball team as a baseball catcher, and enjoy taking part as the Troop Guide to the younger scouts in my local scouting troop, after serving as their Senior Patrol Leader. I enjoy volunteering; scouts has been a great avenue for me to do this. Here are a few volunteer positions I have taken part of:

Several Eagle Scout projects, coastal clean up days, Labor Day parades, Blackies Hay Day (set-up and clean-up), serving food for the homeless several times, delivering turkeys with our church at Thanksgiving to the less fortunate, helping to decorate the Tiburon Christmas Tree each year, Troop Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, baseball assistance at Line Drive to help children with disabilities, and many - many father-son bonding days doing yard work, building decks, wiring a room, going to the dump, and much - much more.

For the past two summers, I have worked on staff at Boy Scouts of America, Camp Marin Sierra, located near Tahoe, 4 hours from my home for about 6 weeks each year. During this time, we have approximately 1500 boy scouts between the ages of 10 & 18 attend the camp each year. Besides my daily assigned Merit Badge classes, I was responsible to clean bathrooms, do dishes, serve food, lead the group with songs and chants, and generally have a great attitude from 6am to 10:30pm every day. This year, I was promoted, and was hand picked as staff to help on the Rifle Range. My daily duties included giving individuals classes on the rules on the Rifle Range, the parts of a rifle, the parts of the .22 ammunition that we used, and how to properly and thoroughly clean a rifle to both scouts and adults.
I have also helped coach at the Golden Gate Sliders Baseball Camp as a summer counselor from 2012 through 2017. Several weeks in summer, around 100 little kids every day for a week are introduced to baseball and the joys of playing it. It is my job to keep them on task, but to make sure that they really understand what baseball is all about - having fun!

In Summer of 2018, I will be conducting my Eagle Scout Project. The project idea was formed earlier this year after taking a family/baseball/community service trip to Cuba. After arriving home on U.S. soil, my project came clear to me. I wanted to give back to the Cuban community, so I am planning to bring a high school Cuban baseball team to the U.S., teach them about our culture, play some baseball, and teach them how to properly restore and maintain a baseball field so that they can bring that knowledge home with them. If you would like to learn more details about my project, click on the "About Project Goals" page.

My mom and dad have constantly led me by example. They have always been in business for themselves and started their careers in the service station business. After moving to Marin in 2000, they started flipping homes for a few years, until they ended up as a full time real estate team that focuses on "helping clients" make their home magazine ready for the market. They have always been hands-on in their business and in their community. They have shown me how important it is to raise your hand, say yes, and try to help others. My dad has been my coach for soccer, basketball, baseball, and has volunteered in classes from pre-school through middle school. He was a parent volunteer for every field trip at school including overnighters. He was our Assistant Scout Master, and is now the current Scoutmaster for about 50 scouts in Troop 48. My mom was always the classroom organizer from pre-school through middle school, she taught local emergency preparedness classes, she has organized and sponsored the decorating of the downtown Tiburon Christmas Tree Lighting every year for the last 7 years (with a lot of my dad's help of course), she was the Committee Chair for Troop 48 for 3 years, and is currently the New Membership Volunteer for our Troop. In our home "family" comes first!

GoFundMe requires someone over 18 to handle the funds of the account. My Mom and Dad (Candace and Keith Nordstrom) will take full responsibility for distributing funds for airfare, events, and funds raised for the Eagle Scout Project day.

Note: Donations will be reallocated, donated, or returned if VISA approval is not received.
