Jagriti After School Program Centre

Tucked away in the beautiful city of Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India is an after school program started by Govind Agarwal. Govind and his family own several businesses in the area and are community leaders. He reports that he noticed domestic issues arising with his staff that were related to a lack of education. In an effort to break the cycle of a lack of education and to help support the future of his community (the children), he created an after school program called Jagriti. This program started out very small with only a few students and two teachers. The program has now grown to educate 70 students and employ 4 teachers. The students are taught English, math, science, yoga, and dance. There is another branch of the school called Suman Computer Institute that provides computer technology education (Microsoft Office, Paint, etc). The cost of living in Rishikesh is quite different than the United States and your dollar can go so much further in India. A child's tuition for the year costs $200 and a teacher's salary is $480 per year.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 in order to help this program thrive and ensure a better future for the children of Rishikesh.

Level 1: School Supplies $25

Level 2:  Sponsor a Child for 6 months: $100

Level 3:  Sponsor a child for 1 year: $200

Level 4:  Sponsor a teacher for 6 months: $240

Level 5:  Sponsor a teacher for 1 year: $480

Please consider donating a day of your wages to pay the salaries of School Teachers. (Example:  if you work as a server, you could donate a night's tips to Jagriti)
