Jae's Cancer Relief

Hi, my name is Jae and in August 2017 I was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal Large B-Cell Lymphoma. The doctors say that the chest tumor probably started growing around spring; by the time we caught it in July, it had ballooned into the size of a thick photo frame (6.7 x 13 x 13cm) that blocked my superior vena cava, pulmonary artery, and pushed my heart to the left— causing all sorts of pain and symptoms.

Before all this happened, I have kept a healthy lifestyle so it was unimaginable and devastating for my family to be the first in my generation to have cancer. My treatment consists of 6 cycles of chemotherapy in the span of 4.5 months. I just completed my 1st cycle and I am quietly, but dedicatedly, hanging in there :)

The goal amount is for my medical expenses not covered by insurance ($4,000 medical and $6,000 prescription deductible + 20% co-insurance for all expenses), fertility preservation, and living expenses during the weeks I’m getting chemo and am unable to work. Every little bit helps and is appreciated.

I guess the worst part of having cancer is it had cast uncertainty in my future— my life and dreams are indefinably put on hold as I am forced to deal with this illness one day at a time. It also breaks my heart how this upset and disrupted the lives of my loved ones. I hope, through your help, that I can fight this without the mental anguish of being a burden to anyone else and knowing that I can return to my normal life with as little debt as possible.
