God Is Like Jesus book

As I have mentioned for the past couple of years, I have been turning all of my Facebook writings into a book. These writings have come through years of much internal struggle, research, discussion, hunger to know who God is and who I am, and finding beautiful and better understandings of these issues which gave me permission to really believe that the gospel is good news, that God is actually good. Not a Janus-faced God. Not a God with two dueling natures, one side that loves us and the other side that must wrathfully destroy us. Not a God that you can't really trust, that you have to walk on eggshells around because he might turn into a monster on a whim. Jesus revealed what God is like once and for all, an Abba who is for us and not against us, and who’s goal is to heal and restore this broken world.

Turning all of these Facebook writings into a book has been a long and tedious process because of how much I have daily posted and discussed on Facebook for the past several years. This has been a long effort of editing and piecing together thousands of pages of material into a coherent book form. As I have come to near the end of this process, I realized I had over 200,000 words of material in my book. So I decided to split these up into several books that cover different but related subjects.

This first book will cover the central theme of my writings, which is the simple yet profound statement that God is like Jesus, meaning to know the character and nature of God, one only need to look to the Jesus of the gospels. In the life, teaching, ethic, and in the cross of Jesus is the culmination of the progressive revelation of scripture showing God to be a non-violent, compassionate Father who is for us and who's goal it is to bring restorative justice to the world. This means what we see in the life of Jesus takes preeminence above all other revelation. In the human face of Christ is God's self-disclosure. In this book, I will include all the many ways I have expressed this in my Facebook writings condensed into coherent book.

Seeing that I live paycheck to paycheck, I make no money from the countless hours that I have spent working on this material. It is simply my passion to help others come to a more beautiful and healing understanding of God and the gospel, to free those in the chains of fear-based religion and be a part of bringing heaven to earth. For this reason I am asking anyone who believes in this message to help me raise the funds for my first book “God Is Like Jesus”. All this money will go to editing, design, and duplication of the book. I’ve never done this before, so if anyone has any recommendations on how to best go about this, I would appreciate it. I love all of you!

I woke up this morning with the idea of writing a blog post on the theme "If you want to know what God is like... look at Jesus," and then I saw this post about your "God Is Like Jesus" book! I am also in the process of pulling together my writings in hopes of making a book. Like you, I'm doing it not to get rich, but because of a deep desire to help people see what God is really like and how we can live out the principles of His kingdom. I know what a daunting task it is to try to get your stuff published. I can't do much since I am in the same boat, but here's a little something to encourage you on your way.

Have you read Brad Jersak's book, "A More Christlike God; A More Beautiful Gospel"? Sound to me like this is the book you want to write. It is worth its weight in gold!
