As many of you may know, Jacob and I have desired to grow our family for over five years. We desire a sibling for LJ to play and grow up with. We long to love another little one through their most precious years, and we hope to raise loving , considerate, and God-fearing children to shine a light in the world around them.
Through many struggles including 3 recurrent miscarriages, multiple surgeries, hormonal treatments, and more, we realized that not only were our hearts OPEN to adopting, we DESIRED TO ADOPT in order to grow our family. Through much discernment, prayer and discussion, Jacob and I have decided to pursue a domestic, newborn, adoption.
The desire to pursue adoption grew exponentially in our hearts in a matter of months, and as we went public with our plan, it was clear that God had His hand in this. We have known for some time that growing our family in this way would not be easy financially. But it's only been recently that we've realized the full scope of the cost and how quickly those costs may incur. Though we've been budgeting to grow our family, the sum of this endeavor is more than we can handle alone.
After looking at the fees associated with our agency and checking that against national averages for domestic, infant adoption, our goal is to raise $20,000 to put towards the adoption of our next child ($10,000 was donated privately). This money will cover costs from agency fees and our homestudy to legal fees and support for our birth mother.
The idea of asking for help, especially for financial help, is not something we take lightly, nor is it something that comes easily for us. The only peace we've found in taking this step is knowing how many people have expressed a desire to help us in some way - in any way - along this journey. Quite honestly, up until now, there have been few tangible ways people could help us, other than by praying, which we do sincerely appreciate.
It wasn't until we reflected on how painful & frustrating it may be for some of you who have walked this journey with us, that we realized by humbly asking for your help, you may be blessed in the process as well. Inviting you to donate allows you to do something (in addition to prayer) to help us grow our family, instead of simply suffering silently alongside of us.
