Jacob's Journey to Crush Cancer

Spende geschützt
At a certain point in our lives, we have all likely been affected by the dreaded C word - Cancer. Whether cancer has affected us personally or we have found ourselves helping a loved one with his or her cancer battle, we all know the costs are enormous, as cancer affects a person’s physical, financial, and emotional well-being.

Our dear friend Jacob Cameron was diagnosed in August 2018 with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer that has metastasized and spread to his colon. For those of you who have met Jacob, you know his kind-hearted soul. Jacob has touched so many people through his smile, his compassion, his drive to help others, his motivation for life, and his selfless nature to always give.

Jacob is a 35-year-old native of Hampton Roads, a 2001 graduate from Grafton High School, a Navy Veteran, a 2006 graduate from Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh with an Associates in Pastry and Baking, and a current full-time student at Riverside’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. In addition to all this, he became a St. Jude Hero in September 2017 when he completed his first ½ marathon and raised over $1,000 for St. Jude.

Jacob’s crusade to help others originated from his 6-year battle with bulimia nervosa, which he struggled with in his early 20s during his time in the Navy, until he was honorably discharged due to his mental state. After overcoming the disorder, he pursued a lifestyle change for himself and set a goal to help others struggling with self-body shaming and self-esteem issues. He joined Onelife Fitness and quickly became a 5am regular, making a name for himself through his motivation to work hard, physically and emotionally, as well as to inspire others through the telling of his story and sharing his positive outlook on life.  Jacob became a certified trainer for 2 years at various gyms to help others through fitness and nutrition. He then went on to pursue a degree as a PTA and was nearing the completion of Physical Therapy school. However, upon receiving news of his diagnosis, he had to take a medical leave of absence from work and school.

It is now our turn to give back to Jacob.

We started this Go Fund Me page for Jacob, as he does not have medical insurance and his medical expenses have already reached $50K and will increase rapidly once he begins chemo and radiation therapy. Jacob and his family would be so incredibly grateful for any contribution and for the dispersion of this heartfelt plea among family, friends and anyone sensitive to his struggle.

Thank you so much in advance.
