On May 2nd our pitbull, Knox, went in for surgery to have his torn ACL/ Cruciate repaired. A few days later, Knox tried to jump a baby gate causing further damage to his muscles and opening his sutures. After several emergency trips to his regular vet to bandage his leg, Knox developed a fever accompanied by a racing heart. I rushed him to VRA in Gaithersburg where they immediately took him back into surgery. Knox had developed a serious MRSA infection in his leg and needed his muscles to be sewn back together. The specialist also inserted a drain into his leg to help his body clear out the infection. After staying 3 nights at VRA, his $3,400 surgery increased by $4,500. The costs are astronomical while raising 4 little ones.
Knox has been traveling back to Gaithersburg every day for IV fluids and injectable antibiotics. We believe he is on the road to recovery and can finally put some weight on his leg. Unfortunately, we are out of options to support the costs of helping him recover. Knox is a great dog and a member of our family, we hope to see him through this.
Thanks,
Jaclyn
