My wife Diane's family carries a horrible genetic defect which extremely limits the bodies ability to fight cancer cells like  most people.

My son Chris was recently diagnosed with osteao-sarcoma in his ribs. Chris has already lost his grandmother Tess (72), mother (my wife) Diane (52), Aunt Karen (58), and most recently his sister Kimberly (35) on Friday Oct 9th 2015, all to complications from cancer and the genetic  defect.

As Chris was earning his Masters degree, he was fortunate enough to be enrolled in a cancer study at the National Institute of Health (NIH) specific to his  genetic defect.

After graduation, Chris was hired as an Occupational Therapist in Idaho Falls.  The day before he was supposed to start work, he got a phone call from the doctors at NIH and they let him know that they had found cancer on his last scan.  Three days after the phone call, Chris was in surgery and in their initial screening they found he has osteao-sarcoma in his ribs.  They were able to remove it but he is currently undergoing intensive chemo in Utah.

Due to Chris' intensive chemotherapy schedule, he is unable to work for the next 5-6 months. The school district he is a pediatric Occupational Therispist  for will hold his job for him until he can return to work,  his family has no income.  Chris is 29, married to an incredible wife Darci and they have a one year old daughter, Eliza Diane.

All of his family are trying to help him. He has rent, student loans to repay, food, and all the other normal living expenses. If you read this and it touches your heart we would greatly appreciate any help at all.  This is not just someone  looking for a handout, this is a great kid that due to circumstances he has no control over, he just needs some help.

Chris has done everything right his whole life and is a great human  being.  When Chris was in high school he developed hydrochephalis in his brain. It affected his short term memory. He endured two failed shunt procedures before having a successful third ventriculoscopy. Through all this he served a two year mission with the Church of  Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, graduated from BYU, earned a masters in occupational therapy and is a licensed OT. He is looking forward to beginning his career as an occupational therapist and being able to  help those who are unable to take care of themselves.  As they say, sometimes terrible things happen to good people. Chris is a fighter. He has overcome many  medical obstacles and he will conquer this.

Thanks!
Proud Father

Since the news of Christopher's upcoming surgery I have had several requests to repost his gofundme page. He will be having the surgery the 15th of February when they will remove part of his spine and the rest of three ribs and possibly part of his lung. After he recovers from this he will have to take his family to Arizona to do proton therapy at the Mayo clinic. He hasn't worked in over a year because of the chemo regiments he has been going through, so anything you can do, including prayers, positive thoughts, sharing this, and/or financial support would be tremendously appreciated.
Thank you,
Jim

In these times where we see so many negative things around us it is wonderful to see such acts of kindness. Many thanks for the prayers, positive thoughts, shares, and donations. We are extremely grateful!!
