"Pay It Forward" is the name of my project that I am trying to raise money for that will be used to help La Quinta High School Wind Symphony get to New York to perform at Carnegie Hall, and hopefully at Ground 0. As a La Quinta High School graduate, I feel proud to help raise money for others as they did for me when I built my 9/11 Memorial, in the City of La Quinta at the Civic Center Campus Park, with an authentic peice of steel from Ground 0 in New York, that was dedicated on January 23, 2013! I heard about this when they performed on 9/11 at the annual Candle Light Vigil that we had. I was moved and wanted to help, and what a better way than to "Pay It Forward".
When I went to speak to the band at La Quinta High School , one of the questions they asked me was, what was the next project I was going to work on. I proudly without hesitation said, YOURS!!!
When we are in New York, I plan on taking the students on a tour of the new 9/11 Memorial Museum, where a description of the La Quinta 9/11 Memorial is part of the display. I hope to get them to understand how important it is to "Never Forget", and experience what I felt when I was at Ground 0 where the peice of steel came from that is in my memorial. Everything hit me like a ton of bricks, and then I understood what took me three years to achieve, was really all about!
There have been so many touching stories that people who were affected shared with me over the three plus years that it took me to do my 9/11 Eagle Project , that have really changed my life. One of the most meaningful one was when we had a fund raiser at Red Robin, a couple came up to me and said how happy they were that I was doing this, as they lost their daughter that day, and now will have a local place to go to reflect!! With everyone coming together to make my project become a reality not only for me, but for others as well, is what this is all about!
Any donation you give is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in giving a larger amont please email me as we are working on putting together some packages that will include watching the Wind Symphony perform at Carnegie Hall and a DVD of one of their performances; A VIP Tour of the 9/11 Memorial Museum with myself and a professional guide; a hotel room in New York; a private concert with the Wind Symhony; among other things.
I would have never been able to raise the money needed to build the 9/11 Memorial for my Boy Scout Eagle project on my own, but thanks to the City of La Quinta, as well as all the local businesses who came to support me, my dream to keep people to "Never Forget", came to a reality! I wanted to take this time to list these businesses and individuals as I feel that it is alway important to THANK people as much as possible!!!
