TNTJ seeks to improve the lives of Trans Americans by advocating for equal rights and benefits in the workplace, ensuring families are treated equally under the law and increasing public support among all Americans through innovalive advocacy, education and outreach programs. TNTJ works to secure equal rights for Trans individuals and families at the federal and state levels by lobbying elected officials, mobilizing grassroots supporters, educating Americans, investing strategically to elect fair-minded officials and partnering with other LGBT organizationsGeneral
Information VALUES:
• Self-identification, determination and definition: We all have a right to
define our lives, experiences and identities and have those truths
celebrated.
• Always in love, respect and honor: In order to move forward collectively
we must acknowledge the contributions all community
members.
• Free from judgment: We must recognize that we are all different yet
we’re traveling on the same path towards liberation.
• In Spirituality and truth: The foundation of who we are begins with, acknowledging and celebrating our truth.
Mission
TNTJ, Tennessee Transgender Journey Project: We are an organization attempting to shine a light on inequalities suffered by the transgender community, including: barriers to health care, discriminatory hiring practices, violence and assault. We network to create access to trans friendly health care services, find resources for HIV testing, access to safe housing, and advocate for fair hiring.
Reason of Supporting
Raising for programs of safety, surgery, food, housing, HIV knowledge, visibility, mobilize its communities and allies into action on the pressing political issues they face, including gaining access to jobs, housing, and education; the need for Trans-sensitive healthcare, HIV-related services, and job-training programs; resisting police, government and anti-immigrant violence.
It is time to support every part of the LGBT acronym! Yes that includes the "T". For Far too long the "T" in the LGBT Community has been Ridiculed, Shunned, Dehumanized & Belittled by our OWN community! If you go back & do your history then you would know that it is because of the Stonewall Riots of 1969 that we are able to have the freedom that we do. People take it for granted. It is Transgender Men & Women who are leading the revolution, what the acronym should really say is TLGB!! (TRANSGENDER, LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL) They are the ones who were first & have ALWAYS been first on the front line!
