IXGEN YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

Tax deductible
Background

There is a dire need to provide youth with the leadership and direction to help them make better and informed choices, and equip them for their future. IXGEN has created the Youth Empowerment Program (iYEP) to address these needs.

iYEP also provides opportunities for young people to acquire information and develop the skills they need to become successful individuals, and contributing members of their families and communities. Empowerment can be one of the most effective strategies for providing young people with opportunities to develop character, confidence, and competence.

IXGEN advocates focus on entrepreneurial education as an integral part of the middle and high school curricula and that would better prepare students for success in future business, educational, and other career endeavors.

iYEP Summer Project                                                                                                                                                                  The 6-week (30-hours) Training Program is designed to introduce, encourage, and support entrepreneurship among teens and young adults in communities of Metro Atlanta. The training introduces skills for creating and managing a business, learning basic business practices, and applying spiritual principles to business, life skills, and community leadership. The curriculum is holistic and designed to be experiential, with interactive workshops, practical classroom exercises, field visits, and possible apprenticeships and mentorships.

Project Mission                                                                                                                                                         To teach and expose entrepreneurship to young people from under-served communities so they can become economically productive, while reinforcing academic and life skills to give them confidence to unlock their true potential, and become successful business owners, or employees.

To impact lives of youth by exposing them to innovative thinking, spiritual life principles, learning and inspiration, and helping them build confidence and self- esteem.
To teach the young people how to dream ‘uncommon dreams’, channel their creativity, and turn their hobbies and dreams into viable businesses.
To make participants ready for creating self-employment or be more marketable for employment.
Collaborate with other agencies to train and to empower the youth for the future.
FUNDING NEEDS

The proposed budget is $20,000 (twenty thousand US$).                                                                  IXGEN is seeking funding support of $17,500 to be able to provide scholarships for 30 worthy applicants. With this support, eligible participants will only have to pay $50 each for registration. We consider participants paying the registration fee as a commitment to taking ownership, and making an investment in their future. No contribution will be considered too small.

The Purpose of iYEP

The iYEP initiative aims to actively engage middle and high school youth in their personal and economic development, whereby they are empowered to become more innovative, creative, and productive in the families and communities. While the program continues to raise awareness, inform, train, and inspire youth to appreciate the power and benefits of becoming entrepreneurs later in life, the main objective is to motivate them to create micro businesses that they can start by the time the training ends.
