Our Team:
"IvyBots" is a neighborhood community FIRST® LEGO League team from Pasco County, Florida, that has 7 youth members from 5th – 8th grade range. Our team comes under Suncoast FIRST® LEGO League which covers the West Florida Region. Our team website is https://ivybots.wordpress.com/. We are a fun and energetic group, who have bonded over the time. IvyBots members love Robotics, Science and Technology and work as a team because we know nothing can be accomplished without teamwork. All our members have been in FIRST® LEGO League for at least 2 years. In past FIRST® LEGO League experiences, our team members have grown tremendously with tech and 21st century skills. We communicate well, collaborate together, and we share our knowledge and excitement with others in the community.
Why FIRST:
FIRST INSPIRES STUDENTS TO DREAM BIG.
FIRST® is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity and international youth organization based in Manchester, NH. FIRST stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology ".
FIRST® operates the FIRST® Robotics Competition, FIRST® LEGO League, FIRST® LEGO League Jr., and FIRST® Tech Challenge. FIRST® is More Than Robots. FIRST® participation is proven to encourage students to pursue education and careers in STEM-related fields, inspire them to become leaders and innovators, and enhance their 21 st century work-life skills.
IvyBots Team Accomplishments:
In our rookie year (2015-2016 season) as FLL team we were nominated from west Florida region for FIRST® Global Innovation Award. We also won project awards during the season earlier in that year.
In 2nd season (2016-2017) our team won Gracious Professionalism awards at Qualifying Tournament and also during 2016 ROBOTICON Tampa Bay.
During current season (2017-2018) our team won couple of awards including Robot Design at pre-Qualifying and 2nd place Championship award at Qualifying tournament. Finally, the big one was in Feb 2018, when we won the 1st place at Regional Championship in Plant City, Florida. We are proud, honored and excited to represent our west Florida region at 2018 FIRST® World Festival in Houston, Texas. This is a dream come true!!! The event will be held from 18th- 21st April and teams from more than 62 countries will be participating.
Why IvyBots are raising funds:
IvyBots have worked really hard to make it to FIRST World Festival. This is an exciting opportunity for the team who have been coached for 3 years under Coach Abhay and Pushpa Vaswani to become an outstanding competitive team.
We are working hard and need to raise at least $5,000 to cover the cost of travel, housing, food and the tournament entrance fees for all team members and coaches. Every dollar counts and we need your help to raise the funds for our trip to Houston in April for FIRST World Festival!
