Ben's Jewish Songleader Training
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Ben Lechtman and I am a 16 year old cantorial soloist trainee, Jewish Day Camp Music Specialist confirmation student, religious school classroom assistant (madrich) and aspiring NFTY (National Federation of Temple Youth) song leader.
I have the inclination, the desire and the dedication to become a top notch cantorial soloist and song leader. What I don't have is the training! Although I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to pick up pointers here and there from the synagogue musicians in my life, and I also had the privilege of attending a one day synagogue musician workshop conducted by the Jewish Music superstar Beth Schafer , I know that there is much to learn before I reach my goal of being able to create an incredible musical service of my own and lead it with the finesse and charisma I know I can bring to the bimah.
The perfect way to further this goal is for me to attend URJ KUTZ Camp as a song leading student. I would get to study underJosh Nelson, Dan Nichols, and Noam Katz who are all just crazy talented.
I would also get the chance to spend time with like-minded Jewish kids---which is a hard thing to do where I live since I'm usually the only Jewish kid in my classes at school.
The camp is residential. And in New York. And really expensive (almost $5,000 for 4 weeks of camp). And I would need stuff. Like a portable amp thing for my electric bass. And basic sleep away camp supplies since I have never been to camp before.
The family budget is short $1500 for these expenses.
Please consider supporting the next generation of cantorial soloists and Jewish Song leaders!! I will be unable to attend this program if my fundraising campaign falls short.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and considering a donatation.
B'Shalom,
Ben
