It's Doggone Expensive

Hi all, Jack (also known by many other names) needs some help to pay his medical expenses please.

Muffin has had a black lump show up on his stomach which wasn't there a few months ago. He has been back to the vet to have it removed and tested for melanoma. While he was sedated, Stinky had x-rays on his front shoulders and elbows, as he has recently been limping. It turns out he has severe arthritis in his elbows, to the point that his joints are breaking down, and needs surgery to remove the bone fragments in his joints. This is going to cost circa $7000.

We are waiting on his biopsy results of the black lump to know how to proceed there.

To give you with his story:

18th of April 2014 (Good Friday nonetheless), the goodest of good boys was born. Two months later, we all fell in love and committed to living together straight away. We know, it was quick but we have never regretted a single moment.

Between four months to two years old, Jack-Jack spent numerous occasions in the vet. He kept tearing his ligaments... limping, lethargic, months of rest and drugs seemed to be repeated. We were advised he would need both ACL's done, but to wait as long as possible, as ACL surgery requires breaking the bone, as he still had a lot of growing to do.

In January 2017, it was finally time for Muppet to have his first ACL surgery as he had officially torn the ligament. After months of long rehab, Buddy was ready for his second ACL surgery as his other leg was very lame.

In April 2018, his second ACL surgery was completed, along with a stem cell transplant (to help his arthritis, as his x-rays showed his whole body was riddled with it.) However, as we later found out, the vet performed the wrong type of ACL surgery for a large active dog (needless to say we  no longer see this vet).

In December 2018, Ratous had his third ACL surgery to correct the second surgery.

Close to $20k later, we thought we were out of the worst of it.

Then in July 2019, Doofus had emergency surgery to remove a piece of a toy that he ate, that got stuck in his intestine. His intestine had almost ruptured, he was in a critical state, and he spent the night in ICU. For recovery he had a drain in his abdomen for a week to remove excess fluid. He now has even more nifty scars to show his friends.

Sir Stinkalot III is now 5 years old and has spent the majority of his life in and out of Vets. He has only ever had his nails clipped while sedated in surgery. Bud is not a fan of his nails being clipped. After his first ACL surgery the nurses went to clip his nails, Stinker was kicking his legs to make them stop. He just had his leg cut open, but somehow touching his nails is worse than that.

Jackous is on cartrophen needles for the rest of his life to manage his arthritis. As mentioned above, X-rays have shown that Jackstars elbows are badly damaged.  He needs CT scans and 2 scope surgeries to remove the bone fragments around his elbows. This will cost $7k+.

We are also waiting for his results of his lump to see if it's cancerous or not. Our action plan is to look after the lump first and hope it's benign. If so, Jack will be undergoing surgery as soon as possible for his elbows.

If there is anything you can do to help this gorgeous boy, we would be most appreciative. In return, we can share photo updates galore.
