Disaster Tech Lab has been building wifi networks providing internet access to refugees and NGO's in the many refugee camps across Greece since September 2015. We have worked in over 15 camps and with 16 months of continuous presence on the ground our track record is equaled by very few others.

On January 1st 2017 we transfered the day-to-day management of the networks to a Greek organisation so that we could concentrate on new projects.

One of these projects is an ICT networking training course for refugees.
This 2 week course, scheduled to take place in Oinofyta migrant camp, will teach the participants the basic skills of wireless networking.
The course will be conducted in coorperation with Cambium Networks our equipment sponsor and will be given by experienced trainers.
Succesful participants will receive a certificate of completion outlining the aquired skills.

This course will give them a chance to learn new skills and to increase their chances of employability. Too many refugees are forced to spend their time in the camps being idle which is a cause of a lot of problems.

We are asking you for your support in this project. While all our personnel are volunteers we still need to cover such costs as course materials, equipment, accommodation etc.

Disaster Tech Lab is an entirely voluntary organisation. We’re based in Ireland but operate worldwide.
Our teams have deployed to Haiti, Philippines, Vanuatu, Nepal, Ecuador, Italyand various disasters in the USA.

Update 1

We have been working quietly behind the scenes planning this training course.
We have engaged some highly experienced trainers but to fit their schedule we have moved the course date to the first week of June.
The course will now cover the following topics:

- Wireless networking basics.
- Introduction to Cambium Networks equipment.
- Introduction to the Mikrotik platform.

On completion of the course the participants will have to sit an exam and those who pass the exam will receive industry recognised certification.
In addition to this we are working to put a networking toolkit together containing a laptop, WiFi equipment and surveying software. Each successful participant to the course will receive one of these enabling them to put their newly gained skills into practice.

To be able to do all this we need your support! Please make a donation today and share this update!
