Isabella's Heart Transplant Fund

ISABELLA THE MIRACLE CHILD

Over the past 10 1/2 years Isabella has had 5 open-heart surgeries because she was born with hypo-plastic left heart syndrome; the left side of her heart barely developed at birth.  Her first open-heart surgery occurred just 5 days after she was born.  Twice complications made it necessary for her to be in PICU for several months, both times heavily sedated, allowing her body to heal.  The first time when she was 1-1/2 she was placed on the heart transplant list and the second time when she was 5, she suffered organ failure.  However, each time miracles abounded and she made recoveries sufficient for her to return home and lead a somewhat normal life.

In 2016 Isabella was hospitalized in March, again in August and most of September and has been in the hospital consistently since October 6th, suffering from heart failure.  Just 7 days after being re-activated on the transplant list, Bella’s parents were told by her doctor’s that a heart was available for Bella.  At 10:00 am the next morning Bella's heart transplant surgery began.   She is still in the hospital over two months later and her doctor's are not sure how much longer she will need to be there.  Once discharged from the hospital she will be at Ronald McDonald House for at least a month, mandatory procedure, because it is just 2 blocks from the hospital and testing several times a week will continue to be necessary.

Costs of a special needs child are astronomical.  With Isabella being hospitalized so many times this year and then receiving a heart transplant the costs have become overwhelming.  Bella’s family is asking for help with some past medical bills that insurance has not covered; all medical bills currently accruing and not covered by insurance; all expenses while she is in the hospital as well as all after care, which will be very costly.  Being at the hospital 24/7 to assist in Bella's healing is extremely costly for Bella's mom, Christina and dad, Aaron Mayer, but it is very necessary for them to be with her at this crucial time.
