Hi Everyone - we are raising funds to give less fortunate families in York Region that have children with Autism/Add/Adhd/PDD an IPOD this Christmas.

Autism is a developmental brain disorder that, in some manner, plagues one out of every 110 children (according to the Centers for Disease Control).

ONE IN 65 SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN in York Region has a delay related to Autism.

Most children on the Autism Spectrum suffer from Dapraxia or dyspraxia which is what makes communication difficult. Apraxia means that although your brain can develop an intention of doing something, it is physically difficult to do it. You may want to speak but can't move your lips.

IPOD apps allow you to do a shortcut around the neuromotor problems getting in the way of communication. An IPOD can give a child with autism a voice they never had before.

IPODS can also teach proper bathroom habits, which most people take for granted: these are an important quality-of-life issue for many children with autism and their families. Research shows that some children with Autism can take up to 1 ½ YEARS to learn to toilet properly. Use of an IPOD can reduce this to mere weeks.

Some children have benefitted from task-to-task scheduling, others are working with communication software which translates selected pictures into spoken speech. There are also dozens of other programs that tell stories, work on vocabulary, teach numeracy and others which simply entertain.

In a nutshell, an IPOD can change an autistic child's life.
Please help us by donating whatever you can... every penny counts.

All funds will be used to purchase IPODS, specialized cases and programs to assist these children with their learning.

IPODs for Autism needs your help!

In early March of this year, a community member had a severe stroke leaving mom to fend for both autistic children while he recovers. (He is the sole breadwinner of the family.)

One child is 5 years old in kindergarten and is nonverbal. The other child is in grade 8 and struggles with language and social skills. Both children are in the moderate - severe range of the autism spectrum.

IPODs for autism is aiming to provide both children with the gift of speech and learning. Please help in any way you can and share our link as well.

Even the smallest donation counts.

Together we CAN make a difference!

So excited to share these photos. Almost 6 months in the making... iPODS for Autism was a huge success! Today 8 children received iPods with cases for free.

Special thanks to all of the community members that helped make this possible... and also to OBERON CAPITAL CORPORATION, PEAR TREE AND THE SOURCE FROM CIRCUIT CITY (Keswick) for their very generous contributions.
