Indigenous Peoples Day Philly 2018

Greetings Relatives and Friends!

SUPPORT OUR WORK and SPREAD THE WORD!

On October 12th and 13th of 2018, we are celebrating our second year of Indigenous Peoples' Day in the city of Philadelphia.

In 2017 our first "Indigenous Peoples Day, Celebration and Teach-In" took place at the Perelman Building of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It honored the Lenni-Lenape today, on whose ancestral territory we stand, and celebrated the multi-ethnic community of Indigenous Peoples of the Americas living in the Philadelphia region (American Indians, Native Americans, First Nations (Pueblos Originarios), Native Mexicans, Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiians). It featured speakers from the The Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation, Ramapough Lunaape Nation, Taino Council Guatu Ma Cu a Boriken , Mexicas and local organizations Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac, Natives at Penn, and Quechua Penn. Also it featured dancers and drummers from the Aztec/Mexica community, the Nanticoke Indian Dance Troupe and Tide Water Agency Drummers.

OUR 2018 GENERAL PROGRAM

Continuing this tradition in honoring Indigenous peoples from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, from the Caribbean Islands to Hawaii, we are planning a two days event this year:

OCT 12th, 6-10PM - SOLD-OUT!
MLK ROOM - Friends Center, Philadelphia
We are planning an Opening Reception where we are going to feature Indigenous storytellers, short films, music and a dynamic panel of thinkers and practitioners who will bring light to our Indigenous past, present and futures.

OCT 13th, 12-4PM - **** FREE ADMISSION - RSVP HERE !
Hunting Park, Philadelphia
We are organizing a mini Pow Pow/Festival and will be featuring both traditional and contemporary Indigenous dances, music, arts and craft from the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape, Mexica, Taino and other relatives.
