Invite Ethiopian student to Europe

Donation protected
Let me introduce you my friend from Ethiopia: Shimelis Kebede.

He is 25 years old and studying veterinary medicine at Jumma University in Ethiopia.

He speaks 5 languages: Tigrinya, Amharic, Oromo, Wolaita and English.

His family lives in a small vilage near Jimma and can't afford to travel. But he always dreamed of seeing other countries.

Lets help him make his dream come true!

Now, who am I and what's my role?

A couple of months ago I visited Ethiopia and met Shimelis in the bus from Addis Ababa to Jimma. During the trip we talked a lot and he end up inviting me to stay with his family in a small vilage and get familiar with their culture.

I was touched by their warm welcome and decided to invite him to visit us too. I would love to welcome him to stay in our apartement in Haarlem, but unfortunatelly, he can't afford to travel to Europe and this is quite expensive for me too.

So I decided to try to crowd-fund it.

All we need is enough money for him to make visa and buy a ticket to Amsterdam. I can provide everything else.

He agreed to make regular updates about the trip on the internet. What he sees, where he goes, what he eats, how he feels and how all this relates to his previous live in Ethiopia. This is going to be an ethnographical tour! Not a boring stereoptipical one where rich people visit poor areas of African countries, but instead the opposite one. You will see how a regular guy from an Ethiopian village visits Amsterdam and surrounding areas for the first time in his live!

He might not have much money but he for sure has a rich heart. Lets prove that money is not the most important thing in live and make the trip he always dreamed of possible!

Once we collect enough money (or close to enough -- I will back him up if needed) we will be keeping you up to date on how much we spent and on what: bus tickets to Addis-Ababa to attend the Dutch embassy, visa fee, invitation fee, plane tickets, food expenses etc.
