Inundación de 6 de Enero

Donation protected
On the morning of September 20th, 2018 one of many horrific storms struck a small neighborhood called Seis de Enero in Culiacán, Sinaloa. This storm flooded a canal called El Arroyo del Piojo where three women trying to escape the flood were taken by the current and are currently missing. These women were Andrea del Rosario (28), Carmen Benítez (45) and my girlfriend Itzel Quintana's grandmother of 85 years, Rosa Nevárez Bueno. Carmen looked after Rosa, and as the neighborhood began to flood, her and Andrea rushed to help Rosa escape her flooded home to safety. As they were headed back to Carmen's home, a wave from the current crashed down on them and took them with it where the canal drains into the river running through Culiacán.

The whereabouts of the three women are currently unknown, our hopes lie with the fact that they are still alive. At the moment, search parties are out looking for the whereabouts of these three woman who were loved so dearly by their families, friends, and neighbors.

Countless businesses and homes were destroyed by the storm. The streets are riddled with furniture, mud, and other debris. Individuals who are currently at the site say the air smells of death and the sorrow and distress is felt amongst the whole community.

I am setting up this GoFundMe to raise money for the neighborhood of Seis de Enero, who's residents have lost everything. The money will be used to rebuild and to rehabilitate the lives of our friends and families that reside in Seis de Enero as well as the surrounding neighborhoods. The money raised will go directly to the residents of Seis de Enero and surrounding neighborhoods to help provide funds for food, clothing, supplies, funeral costs, and any other aid the families will need as soon as possible.

I am left with a heavy heart hearing the stories told by the residents of Seis de Enero, who have lost not only their material possessions , but the lives of several of their neighbors; one of them being Doña Rosa. A loving and sweet mother and grandmother of many.
