Please help Chris get his Service Dog!

Thank you so much for visiting! We hope and pray you will consider donating toward the cost of Chris'service dog, Boo. Our ultimate goal for Chris is that he will become independent and self-sufficient. A service dog would benefit him tremendously!

Chris is a bright, curious, and loving nine year old boy. He loves animals and is always trying to rescue them. He's inquisitive and constantly makes me rethink how I look at things. Chris is now at an age where he realizes that he is not keeping up with his peers. This affects him negatively everyday. We all remember what it was like trying to keep up with other children. Chris has anxiety, sensitivity to noise, communication difficulties, and is not able to regulate his emotions. These are issues Chris combats everyday in the classroom. Boo will be able to help Chris overcome some of these issues at school.
There are many other area's a service dog will help. Chris has trouble in public places. I never know if going to the grocery store is going to cause a meltdown or if we will be able to eat out at a restaurant. There have been many times we have had to leave a place because Chris is too overwhelmed. This has not only been difficult for my husband and I but for our other children too. Since Chris is not being able to regulate or recognize his emotions, at times, he is angry often and will hit himself and his siblings. Chris also needs comfort and reassurance. At home he wants to sit with/on me if I am sitting down and is constantly asking to sleep in bed with me to give him comfort. Finding a balance of giving him what he needs but setting boundaries is difficult. Chris can also be a runner. When we are out shopping or at the park and Chris gets upset he will run and hide. He will run out of a store at the mall or into the parking lot to hide.
Having a dog that can give him constant love and assurance will help him be more independent and self-sufficient.
We have partnered with Service Dogs for Independence for Chris's service dog. The cost for the service dog is $5800, plus the cost of spay/neuter and transportation costs for the trainer to come and stay in Alaska. We are estimating the total cost to be $8500.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Chris's story. Your support is greatly appreciated.
