Roberto Brandao was the most caring and loving father someone could ask for. Those who had the pleasure to meet him know the great friend, husband, father and grandfather he was.
Always doing the impossible for his family, he raised three beautiful child's and helped a lot on the early education of his only grandson.
The best Dad ever, he did everything in his power to give his son the opportunity he never had - to study and live abroad, outside of Brazil. He gave emotional and financial support throughout the 3 years of the Journalism school his son attended to, in Vancouver, Canada.
One of his dreams in life was being able to take his entire family for a trip, anywhere. And he finally did. He was able to take everyone - his two daughters, his grandson and his wife - to meet his son and daughter-in-law in Vancouver to celebrate his son's long-awaited graduation ceremony. It was supposed to be a happy moment, a celebration of achievements, but unfortunately, life had other plans for him.
A couple of days into the family trip, and just one day after watching his son walk the stage and receive his diploma in Journalism at the Langara College graduation ceremony, his enormous heart just wasn't strong enough and did not resist one of the greatest happiness of his life. On the early morning of June 6th, Roberto Brandao passed away at the Vancouver General Hospital after being rushed to the hospital with a cardiac arrest. He was only 61 and had a whole life ahead of him.
Unfortunately, the family didn't have an international travel insurance. No one was expecting this to happen in a short period of time - the trip was only eight days long. Roberto was admitted to the Hospital around 10 pm on the night of June 5th, and had to go through two surgeries, heart stents and hours of medical attention and medication at the Cardiac Care Unit.
The Vancouver General Hospital staff was courteous with the grieving family, and really helpful, providing them with everything they need to take care of Dad. Regardless, they had to give the family a bill for all the medical attention Roberto received. It is expensive, more than the family can afford at the moment. The total amount is CAD$29,620.15, which is almost R$ 90,000.00 in Brazilian currency.
The sudden death of Roberto Brandao has been devastating and extremely painful for the family. It's with a heavy heart that we ask for financial support from friends and family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Quem teve o prazer de conhecer o Roberto Brandão sabe que ele foi um grande amigo, marido e, especialmente, um pai (e avô) incrível, que sempre fez o possível e o impossível para seus filhos.
E sendo o paizão que era, dentre uma infinidade de coisas, foi capaz de ajudar o filho, Roberto Brandão Filho, a cursar e se graduar em uma Faculdade no Canada.
Um dos seus maiores sonhos sempre foi fazer uma viagem com a família inteira: sonho finalmente realizado para celebrar a tão esperada graduação do filho, em Vancouver com toda família.
Infelizmente, apenas alguns dias após o inicio da tão esperada viagem em família, e somente um dia após a celebração da graduação do filho, o seu imenso coração não foi capaz de aguentar tamanha felicidade e teve uma parada cardíaca, falecendo dia 6 de Junho de 2018, no General Hospital em Vancouver.
Roberto foi levado as pressas ao Hospital, onde ficou internado e passou por 2 cirurgias, mas infelizmente, após algumas horas faleceu com a família inteira ao lado de sua cama do hospital.
Infelizmente ele não viajou com seguro saúde internacional, o que gerou uma extensa conta de hospital.
O Hospital foi extremamente prestativo com a família em luto e em um país que não era o seu de origem, mas que agora possui uma conta, em dólares, a ser paga em 12 prestações, iniciando-se em Agosto de 2018.
A perda súbita e inesperada do Brandão tem sido devastadora e extremamente dolorosa para a família, que mora no Brasil e no Canada (Roberto Filho e esposa).
E é com imenso pesar no coração que pedimos a ajuda financeira de amigos, familiares e comunidade em uma hora tão difícil como essa.
