In Memory of Therese Alsasua

In the face of tragedy, help us keep Thalia’s dreams and hopes for her new life alive!
On September 22, 2019, Thalia Alsasua lost her mother and her father tragically.
Thalia’s mother, Therese, was taking steps to make a new life for the two of them. Therese was in the process of filing for divorce. To complete the paperwork, she needed her husband’s signature. When she went to his house to get the paperwork signed, he shot and killed her, and then he shot himself.
Divorce is difficult enough on children. At least 14-year-old Thalia could look forward to spending time with each of her parents separately, until the hopes she had for her new life were shattered by this senseless tragedy.
Thalia is safe with her grandparents and surrounded by family. But she has lost both of her parents, and in the short term, any thoughts of a better life. Sadly, Thalia is one of hundreds of children in Nevada who have lost a parent to domestic violence. Helping a child heal from such a tragedy requires more than a few people, it takes a village…it takes a community.
That’s why we started this GoFundMe page, to show Thalia how much her mother Therese was loved in our community. We have a chance to remember Therese’s vitality and care for her daughter Thalia as well. We’re asking you to join us as we step up and make Therese’s plans for a better life a reality for Thalia. Let’s light a candle of hope, so that as Thalia rebuilds her life, she’ll be able to pursue the dreams her mother wanted her to have. Let’s give Thalia a way to build her future and achieve her goals.
Your donation, whether it’s $5 or $100, will go directly to an education fund for Thalia to get through school so she can start building a new life. And one day, she can pursue her dreams.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our tragic loss and for helping with Thalia’s future so that Therese’s memory may live on through her beloved daughter.
