In Memory of Luke Tighe

Donation protected
In January 2016, Karen and Tommy Tighe were halfway through the pregnancy of their fourth son, Luke. At 20 weeks, the baby was diagnosed with Bilateral Renal Agenesis, a fatal diagnosis.

Luke was kept safe and healthy throughout the pregnancy while Karen, Tommy, Luke's three brothers, family, friends, and strangers from around the world prayed for a miracle. On May 16, 2016, Luke was born and passed away about an hour later.

While a miracle was not a part of God's will, Karen and Tommy's lives were changed forever, as they truly understood what it meant to love unconditionally and be willing to offer absolutely everything to God.

As we near the one year anniversary of Luke's birth, Karen and Tommy would like to support our local Catholic Worker in his memory, and ask all of you to join in.

The Oakland Catholic Worker is a House of Hospitality offering transitional housing to Latin American Immigrants. They offer food, temporary shelter, and other services to some of the neediest among us. In solidarity with those they serve, they struggle to change the unjust structures of our society through social activism.

The family has obtained a matching gift for all donations up to $1,000.

Please continue to pray for the Tighe family as they continue to experience the intense grief that comes with the death of a child, and please continue to pray for the neediest among us.

Thank you. God bless you all.
