In Memory of Li Sha

Li Sha, wife of Chuanzheng Wang, passed away tragically at age 31 while giving birth to their daughter on January 20, 2019. 

Li Sha and Chuanzheng moved to Canada a few years ago, when Chuanzheng started as an international graduate student at the University Waterloo. Some of us knew Li Sha personally. She was a remarkably courageous and independent woman, a devoted wife, and a loving daughter. She wholeheartedly supported Chuanzheng to pursue his dream of obtaining a PhD, and used her last bit of strength to bring their beautiful daughter safely to this world. She left us with a smile on her face as a final gesture to her family. She was a proud mother.

While we are all deeply saddened by this, we can make a difference by supporting Chuanzheng and his newborn daughter, NianSha (meaning "missing Sha" in Chinese), to get through this very difficult time.

All funds raised will go towards Li Sha's funeral as well as necessities for raising NianSha. While this page was created by friends of Li Sha and Chuanzheng, all withdrawals will go directly to Chuanzheng.
