Donations to DP - Dani Kansanaho

Donation protected
After the unbearably tragic passing of the amazingly talented Dani Kansanaho I received a message from his mother Gillian asking me if I would set up this campaign so that people could donate to my organisation The Distortion Project rather than sending flowers so that The DP can continue to put on gigs for local and national metal bands.

For those that don't know, The Distortion Project is a live music promotions company specialising in putting on national and international metal bands of all shades. The primary focus of The DP has always been putting on local shows and helping grass roots metal bands gain a footing in the local scene and beyond. This has been achieved via the weekly rocKD gigs in The Limelight and more recently the Bloodstock Metal 2 the Masses competition, which enables the winner to play the prestigious Bloodstock Festival in August of each year.

To say that I am overwhelmed and honoured by this incredible gesture at such a difficult time would be the biggest understatement ever uttered. I had the pleasure of working with Dani and his band Shrouded many times down the years, most notably via the Bloodstock Metal 2 the Masses competition mentioned above. After missing out on a couple of occasions I was beyond delighted to see them win the 2017 competition and go on to represent Northern Ireland with power and passion at this years festival. I've watched them mature and develop into a musical force of nature and Dani was the centrepiece of this. One of the nicest people you could hope to meet, Dani was also a supremely talented musician, frontman and songwriter. His loss is just so incredibly sad. The music scene in Northern Ireland has lost one of it's rising stars, but most importantly a family has lost a beloved son.

Gillian, Ahti and Dani have been great supporters of The Distortion Project down the years and for them to continue that support in this way is testament to their kindness and selflessness. Setting a goal or target here is irrelevant (you have to specify an amount when setting the page up) as the most important thing here is to honour and remember the life of a talented and very likeable young man, taken far too soon. I'd like to personally thank Gillian and Ahti for this gesture, and I'd also encourage everyone to support and donate to Aware NI - the national depression charity for Northern Ireland. Details on how to donate to them can be found via their website here - https://www.aware-ni.org/donate-to-aware.html

Thank you everyone for reading this.
