In Loving Memory of Yalanda Treece Speights

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Marcus, Treece's big brother. We were having such a good time. My mom picked me up just like we always do to go shopping. We went and picked up my daughter and the first thing Treece said was “Hey, how you is?” After spending the day with my daughter, my mom dropped me off and I got a phone call. The guy told me the car was totaled but my mom was okay; but the passenger, which was Treece, wasn’t talking. She was critically injured in the accident. She was rushed to the hospital, where she fought strongly for a whole week. I could see glimmers where she would move a little and I would be hopeful. She actually heard one of her favorite church songs and moved her head towards the song. That gave us real hope. But the next day everything started declining daily. Our mom got a call Saturday morning that she was pronounced brain dead. Treece was an active artist in the community. She worked as an artist at Creative Clay that she loved for 16 years. She loved children. She loved people.

She will be dearly missed by her family and community of friends and artists at Creative Clay.
