In Loving Memory of Cade Farnsworth

Donation protected
It is with heavy hearts that we are asking for help to cover funeral expenses for a loving son, brother, father and friend to many.  Cade Farnsworth lost his long fought battle with Osteosarcoma on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 5:50pm at the age of 44.

Cade was diagnosed with cancer, at the age of 40, on January 1st, 2015 after going to the emergency room due to pain he had for some time when he walked. During this ER visit, the doctors ran multiple tests –blood workup, ultrasound and MRI to figure out why he was pain. At that time, he was given the news that nobody wanted to hear...he had an aggressive form of cancer, Osteosarcoma (Cancer of the bone). Cade was informed that they had found a tumor, the size of a mini-football, on his pelvis and another on the right upper lobe of his lung. The Osteosarcoma had metastasized. In March of 2015, Cade began the fight of his life starting with radiation treatments and soon after chemotherapy. He went into surgery to remove the tumor from his pelvis on July 15, 2015. Just as he was recovering from this first surgery, he went in for his second surgery to remove the tumor on his lung in September of that year. In February of 2016 he went through his third surgery to remove another tumor located on his hip. In addition to the surgeries, he had a port placed in his chest to make the chemotherapy easier to administer. Throughout 2016 and 2017 Cade was in and out of the hospital, sometimes being admitted up to two weeks for chemotherapy and multiple infections due his compromised immune system. As time passed, Cade has had less use of his leg due to the multiple surgeries which has led him and his doctor down the path of amputation to improve his chances of survival. He went in for his last surgery on July 20th, 2018 to remove another malignant tumor that had come back to the same site. At this time he made the decision to follow through with the amputation of his left leg and partial pelvis removal.  He continued with chemotherapy treatments up until two weeks ago.

To give a little insight on the impact Cade has made in his 44 years of life, he was an active volunteer in the Arizona youth sports community for over a decade. He first began to volunteer for the City of Phoenix as a youth baseball coach in 2005, coaching his son Alex’s T-ball team and assisting with his son Antonio’s Coach Pitch team.

In 2008 Cade began to show our community the great love that he had for the game of football by volunteering for the Alliance Youth Football (AYS) organization with The Dragonz football team as their head coach, offensive coordinator coach and defensive coordinator coach. He volunteered for AYS from 2008-2011. In 2012 he was a volunteer on the coaching staff for the Buffs Youth Football organization as well as coaching with Tempe High School’s football program as the defensive linebacker and defensive coordinator coach for the varsity and junior varsity teams. Despite his failing health, Cade continued to give back to his beloved Tempe High School in volunteering what he had received as a linebacker and fullback from 1989 to 1993 as a Tempe High alumnus.

Cade will always be an inspiration to those around him by his fierce love of life, tenacity, dedication, and humor. He was a true reflection of what a great father should be, as he was with his sons Antonio (20yrs), Alex (18yrs) and Mathew (15yrs). He was a single father of three boys who looked to make a better life for himself and his children. He did all of this with the kindness in his heart even as he fought daily through pain and the unknown of what the future would hold.

Cade did not have life insurance and his family has been left with finding a way to cover his funeral expenses. Any contribution is so very much appreciated by us all.

Thank you for your prayers and amazing support as he fought his battle so graciously and as he transitioned into the arms of the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at Resthaven Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens on Sunday, December 30th, 2018 from 12pm-4pm.
