In Honor of Mia Lobo

With so much love, we are saddened to say that this past week, our great friends, Dominic and Apple, and their children, Darlene and Miles, gained their beautiful daughter and sister, Mia, as an angel to watch over them. This little ball of fire truly touched and left an impression among everyone she met, But that flame was put out suddenly and too soon.
April 11 was Apple's birthday.
The next day was one of our first nice days of spring and the kids were outside playing.
Mia was saying that she was cold so they brought her inside where she started having fevers. Right before going to bed she had a seizure, but because she wasnt acting as she had in the past after a febrile seizure, they went to the ER. She was discharged since this has happened before with no complications. The next day at her follow-up appointment, the doctor said to let the virus run its course.
The next day, she got to eat breakfast on Mommy amd Daddy's lap because she was still feeling very sick. When they stood up, Mia collapsed. They rushed to the ER once again. When they arrived Mia was able to hold their hands tight, but her mental health started to deteriorate and soon she couldn't even squeeze their hands. 
As they were getting Mia ready for the ambulance to be taken to Lutheran General's Children's Hospital she had another violent seizure unrelated to her fevers and had to be intubated so she could breathe. She was admitted into Pediatric ICU due to complications from contracting H1N1 influenza which reached her brain. She was placed on a ventilator and nasogastric tube.
Her 1st MRI showed no permanent brain damage and there was still hope. But as a few days passed and Mia wasnt responding to medications and experimental trestments she lost brain activity and later an MRI showed irreversible damage to the parts of the brain that control breathing and other vital functions. On Thursday, she was about the be taken off her ventilator when she heard Daddy whisper to her "Give me a sign that you can hear me" and she had a toe reflex that had not been seen before on previous exams. Even with a new hope, on Friday, there was no more blood flow to the brain. The most difficult decision any parent would ever have to make, with heavy hearts, on Saturday, April 21st Mia was taken off life support.
On behalf of Dominic and Apple, In honor of Mia, we set up this fund to help the family in any possible way through this unexpected loss.
Mia will always hold a special place in our hearts.
