Impoverished Single Mothers in Kenya

Donation protected
This campaign is to provide financial assistance to more than 100 women in Kenya who are the sole providers for their children and who have recently lost their livelihood due to COVID-19 and two natural disasters. They are now in desperate straits.

For years they have supported their families by creating bead work which was sold to international tourists, as in the photo above. Air travel restrictions brought on by COVID-19 have reduced tourism to a trickle and have left these women with no income from their wares. Simultaneously, the locust swarm in East Africa wiped out the meager food supply which they had been able to grow. And recently, raging floods have displaced most of them from their homes.

My business colleague in Kenya, Joseph Nyachiro, has worked with these women for years to help them find markets for their handcrafts. His resources to assist them are now exhausted. Funds from this campaign will be used to purchase food, medicine,  and other essentials for these women and their children.

Between the locust plague and the recent floods, food prices have risen sharply. Without aid, these women have no way to feed their children.

Having operated my business in East Africa for the last decade, I can personally vouch for this need and for my business colleague who will supervise disbursement of the funds.
