Battling Windsor Police For Loss of Business

Donation protected
George Metropoulos, owner of CBD Emporium and myself are suing the Windsor police for causing us to be illegally evicted from our legally operating business in early May. Ideally, getting into a new location would be a solution but unfortunately because of the Windsor police's tactics landlords are scared and nervous to lease their property to us, even though the products being sold are legal. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/cbd-emporium-1.5146508 We will be suing the Windsor police for losing our store but going against the police is a costly battle and we kindly ask for any donation, every little bit counts. All the proceeds donated will be going towards lawyer fees and we would like to express our gratitude in advance for any support/ contributions. On April 2nd 2019, after being in business for almost a year, two officers from the Windsor police force dressed in plain clothing visited CBD Emporium. They brought a piece of paper they had printed stating CBD is illegal but George Metropoulos read through this document thoroughly and then showed officer Chambers on that same piece of paper that there is an exemption for what kind of CBD can be sold without a license and that is CBD with less than 0.3% THC. Now knowing that George was selling legal products the officer had changed his story, he then proceeded to tell him that they were notified that CBD Emporium was selling illegal cannabis products out of the back. Officer Chamber and his partner asked George if they could search the premises, George felt uncomfortable about this request but wanted to comply with the officers to show he had nothing to hide. The officers found nothing illegal. At this point officer Chambers and his partner shook George’s hand and thanked him for being compliant. The officers did not seize any products, we did not receive any fines or charges and we were never told to stop operating CBD Emporium. About a week later George received a phone call at our business from officer Chambers asking him to come down to the police station to talk to him. Bobby Dipietro , a Windsor criminal lawyer advised George not to go down to the station and let the officer know that if he had any further questions to contact him at his law office.  Chambers then took matters into his own hands. This officer wrote a letter to our landlord Rhys Trenhaile, to evict us from the property or he will be fined under the Cannabis Act of up to $1,000,000. We had a criminal lawyer speak to our landlord to explain that these accusations are false and if we eere doing anything illegal or operating without a license we would be charged, fined or our products would be seized, just like how all the illegal dispensaries are treated.  But CBD Emporium is not an illegal dispensary. George asked his landlord who was also a friend of his for 30 years to at least question this matter and ask the officer why George has not been charged for a crime, and if he’s not being charged, why I would evict him, unfortunately, the landlord didn’t have the courtesy to do that for George.  Mr. Metropoulos also had his lawyer write a letter to the Windsor police chief stating that the letter officer Chambers gave to his landlord be terminated immediately because his client wasn’t doing anything illegal but this letter fell on deaf ears. The letter did not make a difference to the landlord.  Without a Judge’s order the landlord hired a bailiff and a locksmith on a Monday after 6pm to change the locks and leave an eviction notice for George. The police and our landlord without thoroughly checking facts and falsifying information lead to us losing our business that we worked hard to build. George put everything he had into CBD Emporium and went through many measures to make sure what he was selling was compliant with the law, which is why  there were no charges, fines or products being seized. George is a hardworking good man who started a business to help those who suffer from anxiety and chronic pain, who were mostly elderly folks that found relief using CBD products that don’t get you high.
