Please Help Nevaeh's Family

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Crystal Reeves and I am trying to raise money to help the Stinson family.  I'm good friends with Al and Sonnet and they're daughter, Nevaeh, is having some health problems right now and they need all the help we can give. Nevaeh is 8 years old and has been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. Only 5% of people with diabetes have this form of the disease.

In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. With the help of insulin therapy and other treatments, even young children can learn to manage their condition and live long, healthy lives.

She wears an insulin pump that keeps track of her calorie intake and injects her with insulin to keep her sugar under control. She is such a spunky, loving, caring, charismatic, beautiful little girl and its so hard to see her struggling. On December 8th, Nevaeh was not feeling very well, vomiting, lethargic, & weakness are a few of her symptoms. Sonnet decided it was best for her to go the emergency room. Their first stop was convenient care because Sonnet thought, stomach bug. Once they arrived and Nevaeh was assessed they figured it was something to do with her Diabetes and she was transferred by ambulance to CMC. Once there, tests were ran and they too decided they couldn't care for her. She is currently at Golisano Children's Hospital (PICU) In Syracuse. The condition she has is called Diabetic ketoacidosis.

Diabetic ketoacidosis is a serious complication of diabetes that occurs when your body produces high levels of blood acids called ketones.

Diabetic ketoacidosis develops when your body is unable to produce enough insulin. Insulin normally plays a key role in helping sugar (glucose) — a major source of energy for your muscles and other tissues — enter your cells. Without enough insulin, your body begins to break down fat as an alternate fuel. This process produces a buildup of toxic acids in the bloodstream called ketones, eventually leading to diabetic ketoacidosis if untreated.

If you have diabetes or you're at risk of diabetes, learn the warning signs of diabetic ketoacidosis — and know when to seek emergency care. (Source: Mayoclinic.com)

Al and Sonnet are currently staying in Syracuse with Nevaeh. They are staying at the Ronald Mcdonald house so they can be by their daughter's side.  Al is missing work and being the holiday's are right around the corner, money is very tight. I'm creating this page to raise some money for gas and food expenses while they are in Syracuse. Anything helps and is very much appreciated. If you can't afford to donate, prayers are always welcome! Thank you very much!
