14 years ago Gus (who would probably kill me if he knew I was doing this) was in a car accident and broke his back. He is a T8 complete paraplegic and probably the strongest man I have ever met.
We have been granted funding from ADP (assisted device program) for reciprocating gait orthosis. Which is super awesome, but only covers 75% of the estimated $15,000. Here's an example video....

Our current financial situation is not the best. I work at a small non profit almost full time, and he is currently starting up his own business. He is an incredibly talented small engine mechanic, who right now is out in his 10x12 shed, that is barely heated with a damn little wood stove fixing a snowmobile. We took the leap this year and together work at getting the business off the ground.
And we are broke. We pay our bills thank goodness, but that is it. Come January we will need to pay off the remaining sum that ADP will not be covering.
We were granted $500 from Spinal Cord Injury Ontario which leaves us with the remaining $3,250. I have written letters to local service clubs, but with it being the holiday season a lot of them don't have extra funding around.
The health benefits of getting on his feet are tremendous, even just to help with his crazy back problems and bone density. What it really comes down to is, he wants to stand with me at our wedding in July.
