Newark Science and Sustainability, Inc. 
Newark SAS is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that implements various initiatives to increase awareness of environmental issues through educational programs and hands-on training. We strive to assist with the creation of self-sustaining communities by developing pathways for green jobs that contribute to self-sufficiency and community empowerment. We are achieving this by partnering with residents, local organizations and the local business community.

Make your tax-deductible donation today and help someone participate in our 12-week Internship Program. This initiative allows us to further our mission of creating pathways for green jobs in an urban environment, as well as provide support and inspire the next generation of ecopreneurs.  

Participants gain hands-on experience in the fields of sustainability and healthcare. They also become exposed to our social entrepreneurship program. By combining the social logic of a nonprofit with the commercial logic of a for-profit, they learn how to develop a creative means of solving real world problems. 

At the end of the 12 weeks, interns are awarded a certificate and acknowledged as Science and Sustainability Ambassadors, and receive ongoing support and training from Newark SAS. This support also includes a letter of recommendation to education institutions and employment opportunities. 
 


Hydroponic Greenhouse
We recently partnered with electrical engineer and solar technician Damian Decaires of Gridlink Systems to develop a greenhouse for the cultivation of produce through the method of hydroponics. This would not only ensure all-year round food production, but also give Newark residence more access to locally grown produce. Your monetary support would allow us to purchased needed material and enable us to host our urban agriculture program for 10 months out of the year.  


It is because of your unyielding support that we are able to host hands-on, educational programs, empower residents, and be an even greater service to our community. Our supporters are always updated on our progress and through our website are able to watch videos and read about our journey.
