Ickleford Cricket Club records go back to 1904.

Today it fields 3 senior teams in addition to running coaching and matches for 70+ junior colt players from ages 5 - 16.

The club competes with many large town clubs and in recent years has gone from strength to strength, with much success attributable to the thriving junior section.

This positive growth was reflected  in 2017 with the  First XI winning promotion to Division One of the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League.

Inevitable with growth and success is an increase in funding requirements for capital equipment, facilities and all the other things required to run a large sports club which features as an important part of the local community.

Capital expenditure for the likes of pitch mowers, sightscreens, covers, practice nets, and scoreboard has exceeded over £40,000 in the last 7 years and this does not include running expenditure on items such as ground rent, groundsmen, cost of acquiring coaching badges etc

While the club is looking to attract sponsorship from local business, it is also looking for individuals to make small donations which all together will be important to ensuring the club's future at it's current level.

To this end we are looking for people to sponsor either a Match Ball for £20, or a Junior Colt (known as Tiger Cub) for £15.

By doing either of the above things you will be really helping with the Club's funding: Ickleford host 2 or 3 senior matches, each requring 2 balls,  every weekend for 19 weeks of the year. Alternatively, sponsoring a Tiger Cub will help cover the cost of a T-shirt, coaching costs and equipment for our young players.

In return for your kind and generous patronage we can offer the following in return as a token of our gratitude -

For Match Ball Sponsors:
- Your name on the "Board of Thanks" on Match Day
- An email of thanks with Match Report from skipper
- An email invitation to attend our Sponsor & Patrons Day to take place Sunday 8th July 2018

For Tiger Cub Sponsors:
- An email of thanks and a progress update from the Coaches
- An email invitation to attend our Sponsors & Patrons Day to take place Sunday 8th July 2018

Many thanks indeed for your support !

A disappointing weekend with all 3 teams losing. The 2nd XI were involved in the highest scoring game in the leagues posting what appeared to be an insurmountable total of 297-4. Unfortunately a few too many pies must have been consumed at tea as a lethargic bowling performance which only tightened-up too late allowed Bentley Heath to reach the target with 1 ball and 4 wickets to spare.

In better news things are are moving on nicely as we gear up for our inaugural Patrons' Day in a fortnight - Sunday 01 July 2018. As well as 3 cricket matches there will be much fun and entertainment at the ground so please do come along if you can! All day bar and bbq, petanque competition, bouncy castles, helium balloon race, auction, Cream Teas and Live Music!!! First game starts around 12:15pm - late.

In the cricket, the 1st XI had a disappointing first loss of the league season to Old Owens at the weekend despite bowling out the opposition for 156. The 2nd and 3rd XI's fared better however by delivering wins in their respective league matches.
Thanks as always to last week's match ball sponsors: Justin Ryan, Carl Harris, Rob Riley and Richard Skeet.

Well it was another successful weekend for the Tigers with the First XI beating Harpenden II to go top of Division One.

Another fine batting display from Matt Baxter (62) supported by opener Jack Edwards (23) and
our overseas player Dillon Smit (32) laid the foundations for a solid total which was delivered with some fine knocks from Sam Draper (55*) and Ben Mason (32) in the latter half of the innings. Tight bowling from Adam Nunn (2-32) and Dan Watson (2-30) and even tighter fielding meant that Harpenden were always struggling to chase the 251 runs set by Ickleford to win. Had Harpenden preserved their wickets things might have been different but they ultimately fell 50 runs short of the required total and 4 crucial run-outs by Ickleford in the field backs-up early indications that this could be the most athletic team in the league (B Mason apart) and hours of fielding practice during the week is paying-off with interest on match days.

There was a great win too for Ickleford 2nd XI in Div 5A with a Scott Crouch 5 wicket haul reducing the visiting side to 87-all out and then Ally Munn hitting a half century to see the Tigers comfortably home with only one wicket lost.

The 3rd XI suffered a 6 wicket defeat to Frogmore II but it should only be a matter of time before the winning feeling filters down from the other sides and there is full confidence that there will be a resurrection of fortunes for the 3's in Div 10 starting this weekend!

Much gratitude to our Match Ball sponsors last weekend: Mr John Wilkinson and Mr Brad Ross-Williams and thanks again for everyone's support.
2nd XI "Free Whelan" to another victory
Early days - First XI are topping Div 1!
