AaTs wishes to sponsor Kim and Keeva at the ICISF World Congress this year. We believe this additional training will enhance the services provided by AaTs, specifically in grief support, strengthening mental health resiliency, and provide additional crisis response canine training.
The ICISF World Congress is an international conference in which leaders in the field of crisis intervention, survivors, and CISM Teams from around the world gather to network and share knowledge. Each day is composed of several seminars and hands-on training opportunities.
What is CISM? The Central Massachusetts Critical Incident Stress Management Team provides immediate intervention and debriefing to first responders following a traumatic event such as a line of duty death, suicide of a colleague, or injury or death of a child. Having a CISM K9 is a great asset to the team, as the human-animal bond uniquely facilitates and promotes the healing process. Kim and Keeva serve as active volunteer members and have been deployed following fatal car accidents, suicides, and even a homicide.
Recently, Kim and Keeva visited an elementary school where a five year old student was returning to classes following the sudden death of her mother. The CISM training for both handler and canine gave AaTs the specialized skills needed to provide for this student utilizing the most current and qualified practices. Thus, we believe the missions of both AaTs and CISM go hand-in-hand!
All funds are donated directly to AaTs specifically for this purpose; AaTs MA is a designated 501c3 nonprofit organization. Thank you for your support!
