I Just Want to Be a Mummy

I was adopted at 3 months old by two incredibly wonderful, strong and loving parents who couldn’t have their own children naturally. I was brought up on so much love and was a very lucky little girl. Throughout my childhood my Mum had cancer three times and we sadly lost her when I was 17.

In my early 20s I started with an illness called Endometriosis, which is when cysts grow on your ovaries and adhesions can cause your vital organs to adhese together. This is continuously very painful and it gets to a point where you need operating on. This summer I had my second operation and within five months my cysts have returned bigger than ever and my adhesions have also returned and worsened. Endometriosis can also affect your ability to have children. Today my consultant told me that if I wanted a child that I would need to consider it as soon as possible. They can not operate on me a third time as it is classed as dangerous now as it is such a delicate area. Eventually I will need my ovaries removing and maybe more.

Children are my world - even as a child I was mothering children. I’ve closely looked after my neighbours children and then her nephews and niece thereafter. My goddaughter is now 8 and since she was born pretty much I have spent a lot of time with her and we are super close, so close that her Mum kindly lets me take her away for the weekend and has done since she was 2.

The only job I’ve ever wanted is to be a Mum. But as a single person this is not possible naturally. I do not want to enter a relationship for the sake of having a child. Yet I know even as a single person I can provide so much love and support for a child. I’ve not had the easiest of rides, as haven’t many others, and I feel I deserve to have this chance. An opportunity which so many people don’t even have to think twice about.

As a single person adoption is not possible. Therefore I have decided I would like nothing more than to have IVF Treatment with Donor Insemination to naturally produce my own little boy or girl. However this costs £5000 and I don’t have that kind of money right now, and I don’t want to have to take out a loan to start parenthood in debt when I’d be wholly responsible for another human being. Even though I suffer from severe endometriosis I am not eligible on the NHS because I haven’t been trying for a baby for a year. I can’t do that because I don’t have a partner and as I mentioned I don’t want to be with someone for the wrong reasons.

Therefore I am kindly asking 5000 people to donate £1 to help me give a child a life. For it to be loved and cared for as much as my entire being can. If you are able to donate £1 or even just to share my story then I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Lots of Love
