How You Can Help with Hurricane Relief for St. John, Virgin Islands

Jamie Brown and Gordon Moore have been living in St John for some time now. Hurricane
Irma has destroyed their homes and livelihoods, along with a great majority of this tropical island’s homes and infrastructure. The good news is that Jamie and Gordon were off the island on vacation when the storm blew through, so they are homeless but fine. 

However, the pair has strong ties to this island community and many friends who are struggling on a day-to-day basis to both cope and rebuild, and so they are putting together a series of relief missions. Jamie is a certified ship’s captain and has been working in the area for years, teaching sailing and running charters. Jamie’s employers have donated a sailboat that she and Gordon have will sail out of Puerto Rico bringing much needed supplies to the most devastated sections of St. John. 

I am Melissa Moore, Gordon’s sister, and while I live in Manchester, NH, my heart is with my brother, Gordon, and so I started this GoFundMe page to help him and Jamie to raise money for their relief efforts. All money raised in this GoFundMe page will be go directly to Gordon, he has sole access to these funds. Gordon and Jamie will use the money to purchase much needed supplies determined by direct communication with island residents and sail them to St. John. Their first mission was completed on Thursday, Oct 5.

Although St. John is a US territory, much of the government relief efforts have passed them over, and so it is important that private relief efforts fill that gap. This GoFundMe page has been set up to help collect funds to support Jamie’s and Gordon’s relief missions. So if you are willing and able to contribute to this important mission, and to support two young people who are being proactive about relief efforts for the island and home they love, then this GoFundMe page is a way you can help.
