Hungary’s First Baseball Academy

We have a vision to take Hungarian baseball to the next level for the future! Our baseball and softball club in Érd, Hungary, is now 15 years old and serves more than 130 players from T-ball age through adults. Our passion is to not only help our players reach their highest potential in baseball, but also to prepare them for success in life along the way.
To achieve this goal, our dream is to build an indoor training facility that will house the first baseball academy in Hungary. In this facility, we will be able to hold training programs all year round, give more athletes the opportunity to play, host international-level tournaments and camps, and possibly open the door for our players to find a future in baseball. As the largest club in Hungary, we are strategically positioned to develop Hungarian baseball through this academy, and it will be open to players in other clubs as well.
We have the land, the plans, and the workers to make this happen – we just need to reach our fundraising goal. We have already raised over $52,000 and just need $10,000 to be able to break ground in spring of 2019.

WHO WE ARE
Our club started in 2002 with an advertisement in the local newspaper. In 2016, our club supplied 50 percent of the players on all three of the Hungarian Little League divisions’ All-Star teams. We have 130 out of the 900 baseball players in Hungary.
Terry Lingenhoel, president of the Érd Baseball and Softball Club, also serves as the Youth Development Coordinator for the national Hungarian Baseball and Softball Association (MOBSSZ). This academy would be a huge step of progress for Terry and the association’s shared vision of developing baseball in Hungary.
We are looking to partner with the MLB - Baseball Tomorrow Fund to match your investment. We have already submitted our grant request to them.

THE BENEFITS
How would this new facility benefit our program?
It would:
- Facilitate the establishment of the first baseball academy in Hungary.
- Allow for year-round indoor training for our whole club.
- Provide quality facilities to host international tournaments and summer camps, including accommodations.
- Give players a safe and secure place to change their clothes in locker rooms instead of in the dugouts.
- Provide sanitary toilet facilities, ending our need to spend $100 a month to rent a stinky portable toilet!
- Provide space for activities such as holding team meetings, conducting whiteboard trainings, hosting coaching clinics, and just hanging out together watching MLB games! We will also hold our winter youth baseball clubs in this facility, in which we seek to mentor players about respect, responsibility, and making positive choices.
- Help us build our club identity and spirit with a place to display our trophies and mementos.
- Give more young athletes in Hungary the chance to experience the benefits of baseball and softball: physical and mental strength, character development, teamwork, and confidence for the future.
