We recently marked the 60th Anniversary of Chögyam Trungpa’s escape from Tibet, on April 23, 1959.

For over a decade Grant MacLean has worked to bring the astonishing story to a wider audience. Much has been done, including the creation of the 2011 Touch and Go video and the publication of From Lion’s Jaws: Chögyam Trungpa’s Epic Escape to the West.

The story’s broad appeal is now clear. Among many others, it has inspired junior high students in Nevada and a Mormon book study group in Utah, while a Hollywood movie agent who had heard of the “great story” contacted Grant about rights.

What’s left to do:

·       Publish children’s version featuring Palya Washutsong, the 15 year-old girl on the escape.

·       Publish magazine article Pure Endurance: Hype and Authenticity in Tibet and the Antarctic featuring Palya Washutsong.

·       Complete and post YouTube clips on the story’s towering place in history.

·       With the story’s epic stature established, submit story to major publishers.

·       Ongoing promotion of story as documentary movie to directors, etc.
