We are the HSC Global Eagles!
Our Mission!
We want to make an impact! We will be traveling to the rural community of Goyena, working side by side with the Nicaraguan people. The projects include: working with primary school children on academics, play, or health concerns; participating with environmental projects regarding clean water, nutrition; tending community gardens, construction projects, painting murals, and many more.
Why Us?
We have been inspired! A conference at Yale University opened our eyes to people who live in poverty within the developing world. We were the only High School delegation there! Us, the students of High School in the Community, School for Law and Social Justice, will get a chance to really understand the workings of social justice, while becoming better global citizens. These experiences make us want to make an impact now!
Why Nicaragua?
New Haven, Connecticut and the city of Leon, Nicaragua are Sister Cities. The New Haven/Leon Sister City Project, who has been working in Nicaragua for over 30 years, helps us to connect and understand the necessities that rural communities like Goyena need. We know what we need to do to make an impact!
How Can You Help?
We need your help! In order to go on this trip each student needs to raise $1,600. This trip is going to be life changing; many of the students have not been outside the United States! We will also be videotaping our trip to show the rest of New Haven in efforts to continue the push of global support for people who desperately need it.
Why is this Trip Important to Us?

"I want to travel and get a first hand experience on how povery effects the world." - Nancy Wender, 11th Grade
