Hello, my name is Diane hall and I am interested in helping the homeless in the surrounding area of Tacoma, WA, by providing care packages and eventually I would like to provide housing for many.
This is a new idea I have founded for my own personal fulfillment in life. While I do seek donations from others to help support my cause, more than anything, I would like to utilize gofundme to assist with my personal savings to assist me in reaching my cause.
I have a vision of enhancing the lives of others who may have become lost in life, and now lost to the streets. My goal is to improve ten lives each month by either delivering care packages to homeless sleeping on the streets, and eventually, a week's (or more) stay in a motel, eventually to a home. As Les Brown (motivational speaker) states, "You don't have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to become great". As my vision grows, so will the blueprints in my head to ease the pain of being homeless in Tacoma, WA.
A little about me, I am 41 years young and am from the Tacoma area, basically. I have 6 children, ages from 7 - 25 years old. In 2010 my life changed significantly, and little did I know that was just the beginning of a whole new life and not necessarily because I made wise choices. By 2017, I had an entire new job I continuously promoted in, and for the first time in my life I was in a salary position. At the time, I thought that was cool, successful, to be in a salaried position. However, while moving up in my career, I was moving down in my world......for various reasons - we all have our demons (so to speak). None-the-less, I became one step to sleeping on the street and to be quite frank, I soon began to not care if I reached that next step. I was on the verge of killing myself through alcoholism, and I had already lost my children to my addiction of self-infliction. What kept me going was a couple of good people in my life who kept believing in me and my possibilities. After about another year-in-a-half of self-destruction, my own personal strong will allowed me to begin creation of my life! I am now alcohol free, and am in the process of becoming 100% substance free (energy supplements, caffeine, diet, nicotine) as my own personal goal. I have been in my own apartment for 5 months now, I am back in school, and rebuilding my family!
Life is beautiful, and if I can help just 1 person see their life is indeed beautiful too, I will have served my purpose.
Aside from monetary donations, I also request for ideas on items to include in the care packages, and resources to help get people off the street.
