Last Fall my beautiful cousin Laura Jischke Stone became sick with what she thought was a persistent cold and cough. She went to the Dr.  and the Dr. gave her medication thinking that would resolve the problem. Not long after our wonderful grandmother became ill in December and we found out she had small cell lung cancer, our wonderful beautiful, vibrant grandmother died just days after her birthday in early January.  Just weeks after saying goodbye to our beloved grandmother my beautiful, vibrant cousin Laura, still feeling sick and drained from this illness she could not shake since fall,  after numerous tests, including a CT scan, endoscopic procedure, a visit with an oncologist and an MRI & PET scan, Laura found out that she had stage 4 non small cell lung cancer which had spread to various parts of her body. My cousin Laura has bravely and vigorously fought and is still fighting this horrible disease. However, Laura has had a very discouraging set back. The chemo she has been getting is no  longer working and they will be trying a much stronger chemo. The doctor has given her maybe 6 months at this time. Although we  remain hopefull in her fight we are also very saddened and heartbroken by this news. She is, as many are that are diagnosed...way too young to be fighting this battle. My cousin worked hard and has dedicated her whole life to her work and her 2 young adult children and her grandchildren, her family and her friends. She has always cared for everyone and has been generous throughout her life sharing what she has with those she loves. Those who know Laura knows what a wonderful, funny, loving, strong, caring human being she is... but sadly at this time Laura is now unable to work and needs as much support as possible. She should be taking care of herself and concentrating on her health and family at this time  without worrying about her finances and building medical costs. Please pray for my cousin Laura and donate if possible. Any amount will help, no donation is too small and please share this with those you know who know Laura.. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your prayers and positive thoughts.

We love you Laura! Stay strong my beautiful, brave cousin! Oxoxox

Hello everyone, this is the newest update from Laura.❤Well I am doing another update kinda of soon because I have had a lot of scans recently and gotten some news. I did have a pet scan which I thought was kinda early but the doctor felt I needed another one. It showed that the immunotherapy (keytruda) and the chemo therapy (Alimpta) has again mixed results. The left lung is now showing worse which was the better of the two lungs. However there are some areas like the right side of the lung that is doing better. So again this was mixed results. Not sure yet if my treatments will change because a more pressing issue was the brain mri I had done. This showed all bad news. My tumor has gone from a .3 to an 11, and the worse news is that I have ten more new tumors starting. Obviously this is too many tumors to treat with cyberknife effectively so the radiologist has decided that whole brain radiation is the best course of treatment. This is obviously very scary for me and about 60% of patients loose memory. There is a drug that helps reduce that to about 45% but it is too expensive and I don’t feel it’s worth it for me financially. I will not loose myself or cognitive function thank god but most likely will have to write a lot more stuff down and be much more diligent about keeping track of what I am doing with meds and timing etc. I am scared but I am not broken and will continue my fight to stay with my friends and family that I love so dearly❤️ you all have been my best supporters and give me hope. I will end up loosing all my hair again so I will be in hats again but I am still living I am still here. Selling of the house is only going to be put off for what my treatment calls for. I have to continue with that, my family is helping me in keeping both sides moving treatment and sale. I don’t know what I would do without my family they are my loved ones no matter what fights we got into and what disagreements we had we all come together in the end and are here for each other and what else is family? I am truly blessed❤️
- Sorry this is a long one I love you all and for all your kindnesses, visits, kind words, prayers I love you all so much!!! I am sharing some of my favorite pictures with you of family and friends I wish I could fit them all in here just not possible for all the people that have supported me helped me or just gave me love and prayers when I needed it. You are all the best❤️

❤Update from Laura❤It’s with a heavy heart that I decided to do another update since it has been a few months now. I am now on my new treatment plan of Keytruda (immunotherapy) and Alimta (chemotherapy). It was a bumpy start but I think we have my nausea meds down now. My hair is starting to really thin out, I think it will be gone with my next treatment I will also schedule the cyberknife surgery this week for my brain tumor. Hopefully this one is as effective as the last one. I have had some illnesses the past couple weeks and been pretty sick vomiting earache etc so sorry if I have seemed kind of distant it has not been intentional. I promise I will answer all the letters and emails. As for my finances things are only getting worse and I have asked my aunt to move in with her so I can sell my home since I can no longer afford to keep it any longer. It’s been a very hard since I only owe 45k on my home but I really didn’t have any way to keep it since my savings is practically gone. I have to say a big thank you to my aunt for taking me in and hopefully I can get the house to sell right away. Then I have to start working on all the creditors for the medical bills. Wish I had a better update for this time a year, but I can tell you that i am still staying positive and fighting everyday to spend more time with all of you family, children, and grandkids. I am grateful to god for everyday that I am allowed to go on. Please keep the prayers coming they help! Everyone please remember to say thanks for the time you get to spend with your kids and family they are so precious! Love you all so much have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year ❤️❤️❤️

*Update from Laura*Hello everyone I am due to give you all an update it's been a while. I had three scans this past week a mammogram, a PET scan, and a brain MRI. The mammogram turned out to be the same so they are continuing to watch the lumps for any changes. I will have to go every six months to repeat the scan. This is good news since nothing has changed. The PET scan was not good news my lungs and bones are the same but I have three new large tumors. One tumor in the liver, one next to the gallbladder, and one next to the pancreas. This means my immunotherapy drug, Keytruda, is not working well enough in the cancer is progressing. The doctor is now going to add a chemo drug to the Keytruda. So yes this means I will lose all my hair and most likely be more sickly. I have to do it though otherwise I'll die. The brain scan showed a new tumor starting. It is very small right now 3 mm. I have to decide if I want to treat it now with cyber knife or wait three months and treat it then. Needless to say with all this bad news I am really depressed and I've been crying a lot. I still don't have my finances worked out either or have found any programs that I qualify for but I am still trying. I am really trying to stay positive and eat healthy and not let all this stress get to me! Please say a prayer for me I love you all so much!!❤
