Hope for Nathaniel

Donation protected
Retrospectively, looking back over these few years, Nathaniel’s story has been shared with countless friends, family and supporters, some who knew our family and others who did not but felt compelled to help. For all of you, we are eternally grateful and there will never be enough thank you’s or words for us to translate our gratitude.

Nathaniel has shared, and continues to share with us the greatest gifts of insurmountable joy and love that cannot be measured, let alone, described with words. I, personally, will forever be touched by what I can only describe as the purest form of light and greatness.

As we chart our uncertain course with Nathaniel, we have heard from countless friends and family who ask what else they can do. It leaves us humbled, as we have already received so much. We come from humble roots and I know my sister would never ask for help from our loving circle of supporters, however, I have seen and heard your requests to help my family.

In addition to this go fund me site, I will also set up a meal calendar for people who would like to make a meal for them so they can spend more time caring for Nathaniel.

Again, as all of you have given so much in the way of love, support, cards, gifts, and money over these years, I leave this here, as Char’s sister, at a time when I feel the need to support my courageous family.

Our story, almost three years ago.

The story about Nathaniel Allan Stolle starts when my sister and I were only kids. As young children my sister and I loved playing house with our Barbie's and creating a loving family. We played together and hoped the future would someday bring us the joy of having our own children to raise. As we grew older, people would ask what we wanted to be and Charlene's response was, "a Mom". Fast forward to 1996, Charlene and Keith were married and began their journey to become Mother and Father. For many years they tried to conceive but were not able. So, they sought medical assistance and endured five years of infertility treatments and later seven years of in vitro. Sadly, they could not physically create the child they always dreamed of and were diagnosed as the 1% of unexplained infertility. Without hesitation, they followed their hearts and faith to adopt and give a child born by another, the same love and care of the family they always wanted. For three long years they patiently waited for a child that would bring their long journey to fruition. On July 7, 2014, they finally got the call that they were chosen to become parents. Their long awaited blessing arrived July 15, 2014, and the child they had prayed for became the joy and highlight of their life. They chose the name Nathaniel and later found the name to mean "a gift from God", and he is! Keith and Charlene always said the child that was chosen for them would be a gift from God. We have all shared in the love and joy of this child given to us from Him. Nathaniel celebrated his first birthday July 15th, 2015, surrounded by his loving family and many friends that rejoiced in this long awaited gift.
On September 4, 2015, again, surrounded by the love of his family, we received the unimaginable horrific news that little Nathaniel has cancer, Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. The cancerous tumor was found in his face, and a difficult surgery was performed, yet the physicians at the Cleveland Clinic could only remove 70%. We were told the type of cancer Nathaniel has is extremely rare and aggressive. The course of treatment will require 48 weeks of Chemotherapy, a second facial surgery, and radiation treatments.
I could go on about prognosis and future reoccurrences of cancer reappearing, but instead I prefer to talk about today and coming days we have with him and who he is and who he will become. He is our little warrior baby and we hope to give him all the love, support, and prayers from family and friends. His fight is our fight and with our faith in God, we know He will see him through this, and Nathaniel can overcome this battle for his life. We pray with God’s grace and strength He will give Nathaniel many more years of birthdays to celebrate and continue to be the gift and Blessing to our lives.
