Hope Manor-Gift of Giving

It’s Hope Manor’s anniversary!!!

Four years ago, (January 15, 2014), Hope Manor opened the first house and women moved in. In the past four years there has been many ups and downs, there have been many lives saved, there has been laughter and tears, deep joy and tremendous sorrow, but honestly there has never been one moment where I have regretted this life changing endeavor or doubted our mission.

Four years later Hope Manor has grown. There is now one house for single moms with their children, one for women and one house for men. Lives are being saved and transformed and I want to thank you all so very much for your continued support, encouragement, love and friendship.

Kalie’s story...
“At the beginning of 2014, I was at a crossroad in my life. I was hopeless, and my desire to continue living was deteriorating fast. I had met Judith and I decided in a moment of desperation that talking to her was my very last attempt at getting sober.

I had been so deep in my alcoholism and addiction that I had absolutely nothing left in my life. The feeling of failure, guilt and shame had taken over and I didn't know how to live my life without drugs and alcohol. I had gone through many inpatient, outpatient, jails and hospitals by this point in my life but nothing had worked.

During my time at Hope Manor, I was given a firm foundation in recovery because that is what Hope Manor is all about first and foremost. I was able to learn about what it really meant to be an alcoholic, what it meant to be in recovery, how to take care of my responsibilities and to be accountable. I also learned how to be of service to others. I learned not only how to live life without drugs and alcohol but how to enjoy life, to be happy and free. The overall experience of living at Hope Manor has molded me into a sober and contributing member of society and for that I will forever be grateful.

After Hope Manor, I moved to Minneapolis and began to pursue schooling to follow my dream to be an EMT. After completing all the training and application process to be certified, I was denied my license because of my past in addiction. Judith and my recovery family back at Hope Manor continued to support and encouraged me, she didn't let me give up. They showed me how, even in life’s big disappointments, to stay sober and followed the program of recovery. After going through a full year of appeals, I was able to show the certification Board all of the things I have been doing the past few years to maintain my sobriety and be a trustworthy person. I am thrilled to report this September I was granted my EMT license and I’m now work in my dream job.

I believe in my heart that had I not made that phone call and had I not gotten the chance to learn how to live in recovery at Hope Manor I would not be living the amazing life I have today. Hope Manor gave me the recovery life tools I need to get through the struggles without needing drugs or alcohol and for that I will be forever grateful. Thank you so much Hope Manor for helping to save my life.”

The Story of Hope Manor
When Hope Manor opened its doors in January 2014, it was the only sober living facility in the entire state of North Dakota. The Hope Manor Sober Living Homes—now numbering three—are still the ONLY sober living facilities of this type in the state.

There are lots of statistics I could share about the high success rate of Hope Manor and the positive influence in our state—reduced crime rates, reduced use of government resources (courts, prison and welfare systems) or the positive impact on families in general. But the bottom line is—lives are being saved.

Most of the residents at Hope Manor are what we call “low bottom” and cannot even pay the modest monthly fee of $500.  Most often new residents are on their own and it takes time to obtain a job, pay for basic needs and meet various financial obligations they have incurred (fines, court fees, child support, etc.).

In truth, Hope Manor would not be in existence were it not for donors, like you, who give financially. To witness the lives that have been transformed has been nothing less than phenomenal.

By giving to Hope Manor you  play a vital role in continuing to save lives and provide  a second chance for those fighting for recovery. If you are willing to help us, help others, please give.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving—we could not do it without you.
