Equip EPS in Kenya with Computers

Donation protected

Esther Preparatory School (EPS) is a school that offers quality education and nutrition to kids in Ngong which is on the outskirts of Nairobi. Among the students are orphans and kids living with the HIV virus. Recently, the Government of Kenya introduced a curriculum where e-learning will now be a key component starting from primary school. Every school, both public and private has been given a notice to comply by buying computers failure to which it will be closed down by the Ministry of Education. Unfortunately, EPS is not able to meet this requirement due to financial constraints hence the school risks closure.

What makes EPS a special school, is that it caters to many vulnerable children in Ngong. EPS is a private day primary school that was founded in 2012 by Mrs Esther Wanjohi Mukundi. It was during her research for her Masters in Community Care and HIV/AIDS that she discovered that many children living with the virus within this area were afraid of going to public schools due to stigmatization and fear of being bullied by the other kids for their status. As a result, many of them opted not to attend school while others could not afford to be in school.

Moved with great compassion for these vulnerable children and empowered with her educational background, Mrs Esther (pictured above in the graduation cap) founded EPS primarily to cater for them and other vulnerable children. Besides providing education to these children, the school also provides porridge and a meal every day to the students which sometimes could be the only meal for some students whose families live in abject poverty.

Today, due to the high performance of the school, many parents want to take their children to EPS. It is for these reasons therefore that we appeal to you to help us equip a computer lab that can serve these pupils and prevent closure of this precious school.

A minimum of 30 computers would help the school in a great way. One computer costs about 15,000 Kenyan Shillings which is equivalent to approximately 200 Canadian Dollars. Therefore, for $6,000 we can equip EPS with some computers. This will prevent the school from being closed down. Your sponsorship of any amount would be greatly appreciated.

Would you like to help EPS continue with this noble call of giving care, quality education and hope to these children in Ngong?
