Ciara's Fight Against Brain Cancer

Donation protected
On the night of December 3rd 2016 my beautiful neice, Ciara was found by her older brother, Jeff, on the bathroom floor in full seizure.  Eight year old Ciara was rushed to the Stollery Children’s Hospital by ambulance after paramedics were able to stop the seizures.

My brother, Darren Hiscock, and his family were given the terrible news that Ciara had a growth on her brain. Three weeks later Ciara had a second MRI and scans showed two smaller sister tumours had grown, in addition to the initial tumour site. She was immediately scheduled for surgery and the following week underwent a nine hour operation. The surgeon was able to remove 95% of the tumour.

When the biopsy came back it was more devastating news. Ciara was diagnosed with Giant Cell Glioblastoma, a very aggressive high grade malignant tumour with a poor long term prognosis.  Ciara is currently undergoing treatment at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and has had a second seizure and two hospital stays since her surgery.

Ciara has been an amazing warrior through this life-changing diagnosis.  She struggles with the many treatments, medications and procedures that have become part of her everyday life.  A once energetic, active, full of life little girl now battles exhaustion, pain and struggles to maintain her school life and friendships.

I am looking to raise money for my brother's family to provide some financial support as Ciara fights the beginning of a hard battle for her life. In addition to the costs associated with daily trips to the cancer centre, extended hospital stays, parking, etc, they are also paying out of pocket for natural and holistic treatments at home which are quite costly.  To add further financial strain, Darren’s wife Tiffany is currently off work taking care of Ciara.

Please help to take the stress of financial worries away, so Darren and Tiffany can place total focus on providing Ciara with the level of care she needs, as well as her sister Lexi and brother Jeff who are deeply saddened and worried for their baby sister.

Every bit helps and is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
