Hopatcong Ambulance - New Building

For 70 years the Hopatcong Ambulance Squad has been serving the community and has been in the same building on River Styx Road in Hopatcong. It started off as just a garage with one ambulance which was a hearse that had been donated. Since then the building has had a few renovations to bring it to the version you see today which now houses 3 of our 4 ambulances.
Our squad is made up of about 25 volunteers and 10 per diem EMTs which together cover [phone redacted] calls per year and provide emergency medical services 24/7/365 as well as provide support for community events.
The Hopatcong Ambulance Squad is a self-sustaining organization and does not rely on taxpayer dollars for funding. We pay for ambulances, supplies, and the building ourselves.
Times have certainly changed since 1946 and so have the needs of our squad. Our building has kept us safe over the years but at its age no longer allows us to grow with the needs of the community and also prohibits us from safely housing our ambulances which only have a couple inches of clearance (challenging even on the best of days).
We are moving forward with plans to build a new building and can use your help. The new building will replace the current building on the same site. We have already been in discussions with other agencies in town to make sure our EMS services are not interrupted at all during construction. Our goal for the new building is to provide the ambulance squad with a safe, modern, efficient space where we can store and maintain our 4 ambulances, host training sessions, and continue to grow for the future. The new building will also allow us to add an additional heating/cooling center to the community during a weather emergency to help those in need.
